Drawers Are The Key To An Organized Kitchen

Have you ever had to crawl into a kitchen cabinet just to get something out of it?  Once the object is in hand you sit on the floor, pots and pans strewn around and now you have a mess all because you wanted something not at hand. Image via Homesick Blog

We know to expect a drawer for silverware and a few other kitchen tools, these are a no brainer.  Drawers under a cooktop have always made sense to me.  They are just easy.

For me organization means what you want, when you want it and where you need it + no clutter.

When I was at the Kitchen and Bath Show, a found myself in the midst of an ah-ha moment while fondling the cabinetry at the Poggenpohl booth. Containers, pepper mills, spice jars, bins, knife storage, and cutting boards – oh my! Check out this breadbox with tile cover for perfect bread keeping. This was our must have hit of the whole show: the box to house foil, plastic wrap, parchment paper and more.  How stylish is this?  And has a serrated edge which actually has some bite to it.What Brandon Smith is trying to show is Poggenpohl has included lighting underneath the above drawer to make it easier to see inside the lower and deeper drawers. Interior designers and Kitchen & Bath designers at a Twitter chat live from the Poggenpohl booth commenting on the new Artesio design we are sitting amongst. There I am as we get ready for #KBtribechat.  Please follow along on Twitter every Wednesday afternoon from 2-3pm est.  One stop learning for all Kitchen and Bath related products and design.

To summarize anyone with organizational issues is sure to be cured with drawer organization.  Everything is at hand, in place and easily accessible.  The drawers can graduate from shallow to deep as they progress down the cabinet.  Poggenpohl really has something here.  To be fair other cabinet companies are jumping on the organization bandwagon too, but this was the most attractive and comprehensive use of drawer storage I’ve seen.

What do you think?  Do you like the idea of pre-made organizational tools?  Feel free to enter your comments. :)

They really make some great cabinets with everything being organized as it should be for easy use. Great photo of you three too.

Thanks Todd. We found these really quite amazing. I might use a few less pepper mills and more salts. But everything is customizable for your use.

Love these feature-rich drawers and cabinets! Just as stunning inside as out. Just make sure to include features you really will use so you don’t end up with a breadbox holder full of pens. Your mantra (which I love) will achieve success: “…organization means what you want, when you want it and where you need it + no clutter.
