When it comes to interior design and interior products, what does Europe have in their homes that we might be missing? Operation BlogTour begins. Final briefing was yesterday at 0400. #BlogTourCGN was trending on Twitter, yes this is serious business.
Tomorrow at 1200 hrs I’ll be on my way to Cologne, Germany the site of The International Furnishings Show, and when I say “the” I mean thee big one.
Along with thirteen other design bloggers, a.k.a Design Spies, working with Modenus, a non-secret online design product and information powerhouse, we will (un) cover it all. Armed with the latest spy cameras our task is to discover ideas, products and designs which have yet to reach our shores. Forget globalization, the Europeans still have the reputation for being ahead of us. We are on a mission to bring back what you might be missing. The exact location for Operation BlogTour is: eleven buildings actually, showcasing the latest in everything for the home. The main identities of this investigation are Living Kitchen and Living Interior. The Living Kitchen will showcase the latest trends and innovations in kitchen furniture and built-in appliances to sinks, fixtures, worktops, lighting and accessories. While lighting, flooring bathrooms and wallcovering will be the focus of Living Interior. See the list? No chair will be left unturned, and no appliance uninspected. Cool sinks beware, we will find you. Hmmm the depth of texture on this wall panel looks suspicious. Will have to uncover what is new at 3D Wandpaneel. This could be a decoy. One, it comes in Lisa Blue. Two, it also comes in a nice bright pink. Three, there is configurable storage – clients need options. However, it looks like ANB art + design speaks car… I can make them talk. I’ve got a four unit luxury townhouse (new construction) project on the drawing board and we want flue-less fireplaces. I’ll have to investigate Ruby Fires who claims to have the safest bio-ethanol fireplace and something they call Mystic Fires. We’ve got sleeper agents inside our BlogTour sponsors for the very latest in design and technology to use in our kitchens and baths. We will expose their goods. Speaking of baths, our one non-exhibiting sponsor, Mr. Steam, is sending us to an evening “investigating” a European spa. For you we accept this highly dangerous undercover mission.
While we are away on this non-secret assignment, the blog will remain quiet. There will be a car post tomorrow to cloak my departure. I’ll only surface on Twitter (@TheDecorGirl) so I can maintain my sanity and the integrity of this mission. My training shoes will also remain silent. These would attract way too much attention. See you when I return.
