New York Fashion Week delivered new fashions for Fall 2014 which serve as fresh hunting ground for tile designs worth investing in. Similarities exist between fashion and interiors. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day we’ve found some fashionable tiles we are particularly keen on.
First Comes Runway Then Comes Interiors Interior design is like a child of fashion, you can recognize the lineage, track the like characteristics but each exist on their own.
WAVY CURVES from Diane von FurstenbergThese soft wavy patterned tiles from Archipelago Tile can add some style to a wall or a floor where ordinary tile might feel too linear.
TONAL TEXTURE from Band Of OutsidersWe’ve been talking texture for a while now, it isn’t going anywhere. But if your home is full of flat walls, you are rocking a look of yesterday way past its prime. Time to get some texture on those walls and these Vincente Wolfe Textures from Ann Sacks will thrust your walls into the trending position.
GEOMETRY RULES at Desigual Geometrics are still on trend in traditional black and white or jaw-dropping colors. Hand painted cement tiles from Avente Tile offer a delightful softness to the typical geometrics.
FOCUSED GRIDS from Lela Rose Grids provide order and a sense of calm which is always in style. Crossville Tile tweaks this side view glass tile ever so slightly to add dimension and movement which mimics fabric.
As interior designers we look for where fashion and design materials or ideas strike a similar chord which can result in a harmonious installation in a home. We want ideas and products which can stick, especially when it comes to tile. Tile is too expensive to have to re-do in 5 years just because it looks dated which is why we feel these are worthy of investment.
