The 2016 automobile auction season is here, and Artcurial Motorcars has one of the most coveted rare Ferraris of them all, the 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti. Will this be the car to break previous auction records? Word is, it could. Wouldn’t you want to be the guy on the other end of the phone with the super rare Ferrari, listening to the different auction houses give you their pitch? Must be interesting.
On February 5th, 2016 Artcurial Motorcars will auction this rare 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti during Retromobile from La collection du Mas du Clos de Pierre Bardinon. Ferrari factory cars, are unusual to find, very special and those still around carry very important race history.
Pierre Bardinon, who passed away in 2012, was one of the most noted collectors of competition Ferraris, 250 GTO, LM, SWB, a 312, a 330, a number of Le Mans winners and many more. The cars were purchased by Mr. Bardinon back in the 60s and 70s, when an old race car was not considered an investment. This car came into his possession in 1970. Dedicated to maintaining his collection, he had a circuit (race course) built on his property.
This is a car with amazing factory racing history and driven by many legendary Suixtil Heroes.
- Peter Collins and Maurice Trintignant – 6th at Sebring 12 Hours in March 1957 (car’s first race)
- Wolfgang von Trips – 2nd at Mille Miglia in May 1957
- Masten Gregory and Stirling Moss – 1st at Cuba Grand Prix in February 1958
