Well designed, stylish (a.k.a non-bulky) comfortable relaxing chairs were a common thread throughout the the International Furniture Fair in Cologne. Normally, a good looking TV chair, especially in the recliner variety, is difficult to find. Without any initial intent, my design pal Kathy Sandler of Live The Fine Life and I kept stumbling across good looking super comfortable chairs. We likely butt tested over thirty chairs. We sat, slumped, twirled, lounged, rocked and between the two of us we tried to uncover anything which would put a chair in the “no” category. Ugly chairs were not tested, what would be the point?
For those who like to recline but can’t or won’t go for the chair and ottoman, we found a super recliner. (Aaak, I have to almost choke that word out.) Finally, the one relax/TV chair to end the common spousal decorating discord over the (ugly/ “not in my house”) recliner. It looks great, not the least bit bulky or unsightly. This chair is supremely comfortable.
Confession time, we were salivating over the sculptural wood arms… heaven.
We loved the Orea chair at JORI, a Belgian furniture company founded in 1963 on the basis of high quality optimum design. Oh and did they get this one right, with its buttery soft leather and easy to adjust seat. Within minutes we could have passed into an easy slumber.
