Coming in March at the Geneva Motor Show, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) will unveil their much anticipated very first road car, the SCG 003S. But unlike most supercars the 003S had an unusual birth, basically it happened backwards.
First, Jim Glickenhaus and Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT), the bespoke Turin manufacturer, created the SCG 003C (C for ‘Competizione’). Next they wowed the racing world when it, first of the SCG built race cars, won its class at Nürburgring 24 Hours and continued to be competitive at other races.
Now SCG introduces the 003S (S for ‘Stradale’), the race car becomes the the road car, in this case a supercar road car. Typically this happens the other way around where a road car is developed and then the race version.
Who’s kidding who, this is a street legal race car. Set to be the fastest road legal car around the legendary Nürburgring, the SCG 003S is expected to shave almost a half a minute off the time of the current fastest road car record.
The SCG 003S will share many characteristics of the race car: carbon fiber, aerodynamics, performance, with the “racing interiors executed to a higher standard of elegance and finesse” and of course, air conditioning. And like its hand-built big brother it’ll come out of MAT, with likely any desired customization the owner can dream up.
