Best of British Motoring Style

In honor of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee I thought it fitting to honor some of Britain’s more regal offerings to the motoring world.  Based purely on style, coachwork and impeccable craftmanship here are my picks in Best of British Motoring during the 60 year reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

When it comes to mind-blowing British design it is the race cars which really snap heads.  Jaguar and Lotus oozed style in the early days. Of course one can not leave out the handsome Aston Martin DB dashing about the countryside. This particular 1954 DB 2/4 Graber Drophead came onto the scene at the 1953 London Motor Show barely a year into Queen Elizabeth II succeeding her father at the astonishing age of 25.  And like the Queen this car is one of one.  It is the only DB 2/4 bodied by Graber. This 1959 Bentley Continental High-wing is a bit more regal and inherently stunning. The heyday of Rolls Royce styling and design was prior to The Queen taking the throne, until they turned the market on its end with the return a few years ago of the beefy Phantom and Ghost.  The current Phantom Drophead is quite the showstopper. Brand new Range Rover Evoque sitting in the driveway.  Hey for Range Rover, this is a massive long jump in design – and it drives sporty too! All hail The Queen!

Thanks for stopping by! – Lisa
