The first time I saw a recipe for a turkey burger I was skeptical. A burger needs to look like a burger, be juicy when you take a bite and burst with flavor. While I had reviewed many recipes, visions of a dried out white pasty patty made me stop any time I thought of trying it. This and a husband who is a bit of a tough audience when it comes to “new” food.
“I’m not eating a turkey burger.” But once I tried this one, the seas parted…
A great friend of mine I used to cook with when I lived in Charlotte, NC, served this recipe when I visited her a few years ago. It has become a favorite go-to meal for us or when entertaining. This is an adaptation of Rachel Ray recipe on Food Network.
This recipe is in picture format to make it easier to print.
Look closely at my burger and you’ll notice some sauce oozing out on top of the cheese. Does the burger need it, not really, but it is really good. This BBQ sauce is from Bobby Flay’s Dallas Burger, click here for recipe. I make his sauce and keep it in a glass container in the refrigerator for a month or so. The only modification I make is removing the seeds from the chipotle chile because those deliver a bit more heat than we like.
These are great for a crowd, and can win over the most finicky anti-turkey burger person at your table.
