Classy Cars From The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering 2016

classy-cars-from-the-quail-a-motorsports-gathering-2016The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering has become the ultimate automotive lifestyle celebration during the entire Monterey Car Week, an experience like no other. If the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is the pinnacle affair of the week, The Quail is its ultra posh continental cousin. This unique Concours d’Elegance, a signature event for its owner, The Peninsula Hotels, is always an extravaganza of cars, food, drink and fun. Contact a company that offers cash for cars Sydney wide if you have an old car just sitting on your backyard.

Twin immaculately manicured show fields showcased many of the worlds most fabulous cars, new and old. This year guests were treated to a culinary trip around the world as Peninsula Hotel kitchens from Bangkok, Beijing, Chicago, Beverly Hills, Paris, and New York offered their distinctive fare, paired with select California wines. One did not go hungry. Eating is one of the most fun aspects of The Quail, you have to hunt for seats at a table and we always end up meeting and talking to delightful people from all over the globe.

kode57Each year a number of carmakers choose The Quail as the place for global introductions of their latest creation. One of the biggest reveals was the kode57 car by Japanese designer Ken Okuyama, formerly with Pininfarina where he over saw the design of the Ferrari Enzo. ken-okuyama-tractorNot limiting himself to luxury cars (the kode57 is roughly $2.5 million) Okuyama also showcased his talent with the most gorgeous tractor we’ve ever seen. lamborghini-centarioLamborghini took the shroud off the Centario Roadster, a limited edition super car built to honor the 100th anniversary of the founder’s birth. Keep in mind, this was the Lambo’s world reveal, although production is already sold out. bugatti-chironThe sculptural Bugatti Chiron with its swirling a-pillar was a crowd favorite.

lamborghini-muiras-at-the-quailThis was automotive eye-candy to the nth degree, punctuated by a colorful array of what some are calling the largest gathering of Lamborghini Miuras on the continent. The Miura celebrated 50 years while BMW celebrated 100 years.

bmw-race-carsAnother ginormous gathering of BMW Z8s (I didn’t know this many people loved those cars) sat at one end of the field while racing BMWs made their own racing stripe down the middle.

1953-ferrari-375-mmIn keeping with the current flavor of “barn finds” being acceptable, Best of Show went to the unrestored 1953 Ferrari 375 MM owned by Andreas Mohringer. Many of you recall this car was featured on season 2 of Wayne Carini’s Chasing Classic Cars. Note, unrestored means the car can serve double duty as a cocktail table… note the wine glass.

bentley-mulsanneI’d like to give a shout to my favorite car on the field, this glorious Moroccan Blue Bentley Mulsanne – it also counts as “Lisa Blue” for obvious reasons. Thank you Bentley Motors for our Quail tickets.
