Don’t Put A Ferrari, Porsche Or Classic Car In A Shoebox

Supercars and other classic cars deserve a special car garage.  Housing these babies in just a garage would be like the Queen of England storing the crown jewels in a shoebox.  Collector cars Imagine this might be the type of car candy you own (or covet): Ferrari, Hot-Rod, classic race cars, classic Bugatti or Porsche Speedster.  A generic pole barn will not due.  Not that it might not look 100% nondescript on the exterior but the interior needs to feed the beasts!

Garages can be more than just utilitarian, so much more, especially if your stable includes classic cars, vintage cars, or supercars and that’s why having the right coating for your garage is important, and is when services from MyGarageFloors.com – Garage Floors Coating Dallas can help.  If this is what is inside the garage, it should be more than just a garage. For garage floors Lynchburg, contact All Sealed Up.Garage artworkThe special garage is a cross between man-cave (I hate this term especially for a garage for obvious reasons) and showplace.  It is a hangout, a place to entertain, a place to display all the automotive related items one might be banned to the dog house for if tried to bring into the house.  Hey, I’m a designer, there is a place for everything and if you want a coffee table made from a used F1 tire – it doesn’t belong in the house.  These full sized neons aren’t quite at home in a home either, but in a garage… bellissimo!   A work and tool area is also important if one’s brain is wired for tinkering.

Here is a preliminary garage floor plan with a loft for relaxing, entertaining, or just hanging out surveying the stable.   Ferrari Garage projectOn the far end of the loft there is a small kitchen/bar area with a fridge, wine fridge, hidden microwave, and food storage.  Shelves for trophies, art and endless collection of car magazines and auction catalogues will be on the other wall.  All the comforts of home plus great seating, not out of date cast off bad sofas.

Before you say anything, the glass railing goes all the way around the loft – it is left out for this drawing. Garage finishesPart of the finish/fabrics scheme is shown here. Sleek manly black leather floor tile will be perfect in the loft and work well with the red padded wall covering.  Here you go ladies, give your man a “padded cell” – you will know exactly where he is when he isn’t at home.  Right here. 😉

Custom club sofas and chairs, picture the ones with a nice clubby sink-your-butt-into look, will be covered in the black and white herringbone and window pane plaid wool with red trim.  Under the loft is a bathroom, where this tactile black tile will go.  A tool/tinker area is underneath the loft too.

Look back at the right wall in the drawing, it is a blow up of this vintage racing photo.  While there are many more parts and pieces, I wanted to just give you a hint of the possibilities.

I approach the garage just like any other design project with first defining the star, in this case five of them.  Everything else is less than and serves to make the cars the focal point.  Red cars will live in this garage, so red only shows up upstairs so as to coordinate and keep the focus on the main floor.

Design is even relevant in a garage!  This from the girl who floor plan’s potential car purchases… a cross I bear.

Whether you enjoy one car manufacturer or many, the garage can be an exciting space to enjoy and showcase your collection.
