If Rachel Zoe can do it, so can the rest of us. Tufted furniture is having a resurgence. This vintage detail is showing up all over new furniture. The trend for plain fabrics has forced designers to “make it interesting.” Tufting is a perfect option for large upholstered pieces like a chair, ottoman or sofa.

Last night we saw the new house move-in on the The Rachel Zoe Project where we caught a glimpse of the fabulous new sofa Jeremiah picked out for her. Bananas! Of course the concern was all white – too white, but all this white proved to be wonderful, simply due to shades and textures. And what supplies shade and texture as well as a classic quilted Chanel bag? Tufted furniture.

One of these classic Mies van der Rohe daybeds (or readily available reproduction) was also seen slipping into Rachel Zoe’s new house as the first furniture piece to arrive.
Who better to carry the torch for classic styling and Hollywood interior glamor than interior furnishings company Phyllis Morris, named after the creator of the original 1950’s Poodle Lamp. Known for exquisite detailing and superb designs they have translated tufting on to casegoods as shown in the Circa Desk above.
