Fearless Car Colors are Nothing New

As a designer and artist, color is my oxygen.  Bold, vibrant colors are not some new never been done before concept only allowed for whimsical children.  Way before there was any concept of Pimp My Ride both car companies and owners were considerably bolder in their choice of car colors.  Here are some of the no fear color choices of grown men and women who dared to be different and tossed the concept of trending car colors aside.

The famous 1935 Duesenberg SJ Speedster/Mormon Meteor run by Ab Jenkins to achieve land speed records on the Bonneville Salt Flats.  Anyone with even the slightest interest in this segment of motorsports must see the movie, The Boys of Bonneville, which pieces together real footage about this car and the evolution of the Salt Flats.  Great story, great cars and great cinematic project.  They held a screening of the movie during Carmel/Pebble Beach Car week, it was outstanding.

People in general love and are drawn to color.  Why leave it in the closet as a fantasy? In humble appreciation for those who have gone before, I have no problem being an individual when it comes to car color. 🙂
