Gear Shift: NASCAR & The Daytona 500

How about this for a lane change, this weekend I’ll be live from the Super Bowl of stock car racing, the Daytona 500.  Since 1959 stock cars have revved up for 500 miles, or about 200 laps of motorsports excitement around the 2.5 mile track.  The Daytona 500 is the most prestigious race for the NASCAR circuit and is the opening event for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.   Photo courtesy of Lowe’s Racing

As a guest of Lowe’s and Kobalt Tools, I’m excited to experience a different genre of automotive enjoyment.

My normal experience with the word Daytona extends to these two:  The Cobra Daytonaand the Ferrari Daytona.
