Icons Of Motoring at Pebble Beach

While the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance takes place every year, the anticipation of discovering some long hidden automotive gem is always fulfilled.  I always land upon some glorious example of automotive mastery I have never encountered before.  Whether completely unknown or simply never experienced in person, the chills ruffle through me as I meet one of these iconic automobiles.  Some people go weak in the knees traveling to museums viewing old masters, I like vintage automobiles from the glory days of motoring.  Here are a few of my favorites from the 62nd annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.  1936 Talbot Lago T150C Figoni & Falaschi Cabriolet1936 Talbot Lago T150C Figoni & Falaschi Cabriolet 1923 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Springfield Brewster Tourer (855x1024) This 1913 Turcat-Mery MJ Boulogne Torpedo is one of my never seem before pals.  The French manufacturer, Turcat-Mery, was only in existence from 1899 to 1928.   They actually won the first Monte Carlo Rally in 1911.   How about the brass and copper details or the handpainted cane embellishment? 1932 Delage D8 SS100 Figoni Cabriolet J3-02One simply can not get enough of the reigning “King of the (1903’s) Concours” a 1932 Delage D8 SS100 Figoni Cabriolet.  There is not one detail on this car which is not fascinating.

For me it is all about the fenders… and maybe the roof line, but I haven’t even gotten into the interior, the engines can be downright snazzy…  Well, there are many facets to appreciate on a vintage automobile.  Who stops at just one?  Lisa sig2
