Kitchen & Bath Design Trends Gone Mainstream

Kitchens and baths are the two most expensive rooms in a home to remodel or create from scratch.  This is why doing it right the first time makes all the difference in homeowner happiness.  But how do you decide if something is just trending or if it has staying power?   Here are a few notable trends in kitchen & bath design which are not going away. A professional home remodeling winston-salem, nc contractor can help you design and execute your remodels based on your budget and preferences. For a more complex remodeling project, you may need to seek Demolition Services.

Flat Front Cabinets – On a recent bathroom project one of the first requests my client made was flat front cabinets.  They don’t become dust and drip collectors.  Almost every cabinet manufacturer has flat front options from budget minded IKEA to high-end & high-style Downsview.  Deco style double sink with no storageWhite Sinks – Always a classic, the white sink is the easiest color choice to make in the bathroom – it goes with everything and never has a date-stamp.  Remember Ecru, Bisque or even brown and black?  Walk into a bathroom today with a sink in those colors and the first thought is it is ripe for a redo.

White Cabinetry – This will always be a timeless classic and workable in either traditional or contemporary designs.

Mixing Cabinet Material and Color – Good designers play with color and materials to highlight certain areas, in a kitchen, to keep the room from looking like a cabinetmakers showroom. Whether you need a full or partial kitchen remodel, this company is able to work with all budgets to achieve the best outcome.  With all those big plain surfaces it is important to mix it up a bit to make the room appealing.

In this kitchen, designer Meredith Heron of Meredith Heron Design, visually opened up the space by placing white cabinets around the top against white walls and white tiles.  The effect is stunning!  The countertop connects the light color to the dark color creating an elegant and clean space.  Dark on bottom light on top is a great trick for increasing a space which could feel narrow.

Meredith carried the same colors into the dining room.  The white paneled walls pull the walls out while the dark top allows a feeling of height yet is still intimate.  Perfection, when can we move in?

Gone are the days of walls of boring cabinets with lots of goopy dust catching trim. Today’s kitchen is both a work area and a family hub. In the bathroom it is about creating an efficient spa-like atmosphere.  When updating or creating a kitchen or bath they have to be functional and esthetically pleasing. Small luxuries like a coffee mug warmer elevate the kitchen experience, blending comfort and sophistication into daily routines.
