Lap Around Mazda Raceway For Concours Cars At Pebble BeachDecor Girl

Breaking news for Pebble Beach and Monterey Car Week attendees! This year marks a big change in the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance route, sponsored by Rolex. Numerous cars participating in Sunday’s Concours’ d’Elegance will take a lap around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca* on Thursday, August 15, 2013 as part of the tie breaker tour. Not every car competing in the Concours d’Elegance must go on the tour. However, in the case of a tie between two cars when the judges review their scorecards, the car which participated in the Tour d’Elegance comes out on top. The advantage does not go the, my wheels don’t touch the pavement, garage queen.

“The Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance presented by Rolex underscores the fact that cars are meant to be driven,” says Concours Chairman Sandra Button. “The Tour is the perfect way to experience the elegance of the automobile in motion.”Spectators are welcome to watch what might be a once in a lifetime opportunity to catch rare Duesenbergs, Alfa Romeos, Bugattis, Aston Martins and other vintage cars take a lap on the famed speedway. Viewing the Tour d’Elegance is FREE, yep there are still some things in life which don’t have a price for admission.

This is a get your butt out of bed day. Jeans, sweatshirt, ball cap, out the door, coffee and go, it is up to you if you wanna opt for underwear. 🙂

The tour leaves the Pebble Beach Resorts from 7 to 9 a.m., they are expected at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m., and in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Translation, if you are an early riser and want to enjoy the jubilant energy as the cars leave Pebble Beach, trot yourself over there no later than 6:30 a.m.

RACEWAY TIP: Getting to the track from the parking lot involves significantly more physical exertion across lots of dirt, hills and questionable terrain. Ladies this is not a dress up venue. Wear layers, it can be cold early on but as soon as the sun peaks through the haze the heat can be scorching.

Determine your viewing location and plan accordingly. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if you encounter the dreaded raceway traffic. If this is your spot, go early!
