The kitchen island (freestanding )or peninsula quartzite countertops serve as the centralized multi-purpose functional focal point of modern living. It is the #1 request on consumer’s kitchen wish list. We don’t socialize around a sink, a dishwasher or refrigerator, but we all socialize around an island.
My kitchen dimensions did not allow for a freestanding island, so we created a peninsula counter instead. My husband sits here and talks to me while I’m cooking. I use the full length of it when rolling fresh pasta. And no matter what type of entertaining we are doing, formal or casual, everyone ends up hanging out here.
