What do Your Dining Chairs Say?

Do your dining chairs say “come on over and sit for a while?”  Or are they telling your guests, “this isn’t going to last long”? Good dining chairs vs badA dining chair should be the second most comfortable chair in your home. By now you’ve heard the secret to weight loss is to slow down your eating – making a meal in 10 minutes is fine eating it in 10, not so good.  Well, if you can’t wait to get your butt out of an uncomfortable chair, you are bound to eat fast.  Not that the entire concept of slowing down and enjoying a family meal is a bad thing either.

Secrets of a comfortable dining chair:

  • Padded seat
  • High enough back it doesn’t cut in hard below shoulder blade, with a slight angle
  • Padded back gives even more comfort
  • Good seat depth – less than 17″ front of seat to inside back can be too small for adults

Whether they are your everyday kitchen chairs or in the dining room, dining chairs need to invite people to sit and linger.  Here are some dining chairs which invite a good time.Dakota Jackson Puffy ChairAs much as they might look chic or seem like an inexpensive fix, backless benches are the absolute worst. Nobody can get comfortable, arms are poking into one another and guest’s backs tire from lack of support.

Support and a little of the gush factor are key.  Dining chairs which say, “Come’on over and sit a spell,” are what every home needs.  It is so much nicer to sit down and enjoy meals.  The only disclaimer is if your chairs are too comfortable your guests may never leave.
