Kids know how to find the fun in winter, as adults we can do the same thing with the winter blues. While basic color theory categorizes colors as cool and warm, this does not necessarily translate to how a room makes us feel. As a designer I’ve found it much more effective to concentrate on the feeling a color inspires when creating an interior color scheme. Our emotions have the power to make us feel warm or cold. Here is a new way to see the winter blues, as something to make you and your interiors smile.
Color inspiration can come from nature though it does not have to feel like it. Some of the coldest wintery items are frost and glaciers. Though when you look into the true colors found in each of these they tend to make one feel happy not frosty. Wintery blues can actual make an interior warm and inviting.
Take a look at what happens when these blues make an appearance in home interiors.
A living room becomes welcoming and lovely.
Who wouldn’t want to spend time in this serene wintery blue laundry room?
Tile is the one material which genuinely embodies the true depth and color changes inherent in blues.
Every mosaic tile design from New Ravenna is swoon-worthy but this new color, which you can find in the photo of the glacier above, is divine.
One of the most classic color combinations is blue and white, rethink those winter blues for kitchen tile.
Whether you use paint, fabrics or other surfaces the effect is transformative. Wintery blues are not cold or gloomy. Real winter blues can make a home happy, restful and warm.
