Yes, You Need a New Thermostat

The Nest thermostat is the beginning of the next wave in got-to-have-it gadgetry.  What could be better than a thermostat which is simple to operate?

Seriously have you ever seen a better looking one?  Not sure if this will take off?  Well the creator, Tony Fadell came from Apple, you know the people who’ve changed our lives with easy to use products with based in smart simple looking design.

Did you know people typically change the temperature on a thermostat 1500 times a year?  Not with the Nest thermostat.

Unlike the typical programmable thermostat, the Nest thermostat is inviting not scary.  No teeny tiny numbers with directions requiring a magnifying glass to read.  Perfect for us over 40 set with the aging eye thing.  No confusing directions or a gazillion little buttons to press.  Turn it to heat or cool, set it, adjust it and it remembers.  This results in it programing itself so you don’t have to.

Have you ever been on vacation, heard the weather at home was completely different than expected?  Simply log on and readjust your home thermostat while you are away.  Set it to be just right for when you walk back in the door.

I love it when basic necessities get simpler, easier and better.  Finally an easy to use utilitarian item we all need which isn’t ugly!  Now if we could just get the contractor/builder to stop placing the thermostat in the middle of an otherwise useful wall.  🙂
